2025-26 Season

21 June 2026 6.30pm: St Gabriel’s Church, Aldersbrook
- WAGNER Meistersinger Prelude and Suite from Act 3
- LIADOV Eight Russian Folk Songs
- RACHMANINOV Symphonic Dances
Conductor: Jess Hoskins
We end the season with three contrasting works spanning the mid 19th-20th Centuries. Wagner’s opera
‘The Mastersingers of Nuremberg’ dates from 1862. Liadov’s evocative settings of Russian folksongs was
written in 1906. Rachmaninov’s final great orchestra work, the Symphonic Dances, was written in 1940
when he was living in New York and includes references to many of his previous compositions.
The orchestra is delighted to be working once again with guest conductor Jess Hoskins, who previously
conducted the orchestra and soloists at the 2025 North & East London Young Musician of the Year Final.
